"Taper Core MD7-Light String Set"
-20-28-40-58-80-102-120
Believe me
when I say that my Ken Smith Bass,
respectfully referred to as
"The MD-7 String Contrabass Guitar", along
with my other eight custom 4, 5, 6, and 7 string Smith basses have to
be some of the most well made, well played instruments I've ever owned.
The science of wood combinations, state-of-the-art electronics, and the
love and care that goes into the construction of every Ken Smith
Instrument is paramount to the beauty and sound of what I call, "The
Ken Smith Experience".

These strings are designed for high quality
instruments. They are bright, the sound is even across the fret board,
they are very consistent, and they last longer than most strings on the
market today. (Trust me, I've tried a lot of them.) I have found Ken's
products to be the best because like myself, Ken Smith is a bass player
who understands the needs for the instrument... and for me, that's very
important.

The
sets I choose to use:

"Taper Core Light 5 String Set"-
40-58-80-102-120

"Taper
Core Light Gospel
6
String Set"-
40-58-80-102-120-145
Tuned: G - D - A - E - B - F#

My old school SM400-S and SM900 from SWR Engineering is
simply one the best sounding systems I've ever owned. SWR has been an
important part of my sound since the early 90's. I am one who
believes that a bass amplification system has to be clean in its
construction with no bells and whistles, clear in sound with all
components between the amp and the speakers system working together in
harmony, and road worthy, ready to take a lickin' and keep on
kickin'....SWR has got it. Whether I'm in the Studio, on local club
gigs, or world concert tours, my SWR system has never let me
down!!!

I use
Bag End
speakers and enclosures: (The Elf
System; D10BX-D, Elf-M, S18E Sub Woofer) Two words come to mind when I
speak of this system.....Big
Bottom.
The Bag End Elf System has to be one of the most innovative
systems that I have ever used. The construction is sturdy...the
cabinets are light in weight, yet they produce a sound that would make
any stage rumble from the ground.
I use them in conjunction with my SWR system. Together this
system is unmatched (in my opinion)....and that's all that matters.
